Bedroom Decorating Ideas
Welcome to week 4 of our Room by Room Summer Series! I can’t believe the summer is half over already! This week we are sharing bedroom decorating ideas. Master bedrooms will be next week, this week is for secondary bedrooms.
If you follow my blog regularly you know I just did a complete makeover in my younger daughter’s room. It was dark and outdated before with a furniture layout that was all wrong. We gave it a complete overhaul from laying new flooring to installing a layered crown molding.
These are some of the photos that didn’t make it into the first post a few weeks ago. We switched out the chandelier and the curtains and added a storage ottoman at the foot of the bed.
We replaced the ugly bi-fold builder grade closet doors with a DIY sliding barn door instead.
Opposite the bed we added a desk so my daughter would have some much-needed study space. I completely removed her dresser (which was broken) from the room. We made up for the loss of clothing storage by adding DIY nightstands and the ottoman. You can see the full makeover here.
My older daughter’s room has never gotten a full makeover. This is something she has been asking me to do lately, especially since seeing her sister’s room. I have done a few smaller updates in this space. The mirrored sliding door update was hugely popular and is still one of my favorite DIY’s.
I used a desk next to the bed so that my older daughter would have her own study area as well.
To fit more storage into this room, I stacked vintage steamer trunks on the other side of the bed as opposed to a nightstand.
A made a budget-friendly gallery wall with a few simple DIY’s.
This room is on the list for a more complete makeover, right after I finally get to my living room. As I mentioned last week, my blog schedule will be sporadic for the rest of July. I’ll be taking a short break to enjoy the summer before it passes me by!

You always have the best ideas! You know we love the green barn door! The entire room is filled with beautiful decor and fun storage solutions. And that mirrored door in the other bedroom is fabulous! Your daughters are lucky ladies to have you as their mom and designer!
Roxanne, you do such a wonderful job of incorporating different textures and vintage pieces – I always love seeing your room makeovers! And the update you did to the mirrored doors is so creative!
I am looking for mirrored sliding doors that show some character for our master bathroom. Can you share with me how you got that unique design in your mirrored door? Did you have a wood design glued to the mirror?
