How To Create Stunning DIY Christmas Centerpieces For Your Table

Elevate your holiday table with easy and beautiful DIY Christmas centerpieces. First, here are a few quick ideas to get you started.

Start with a festive base like a wooden tray, a mirrored plate, or a Christmas table runner.

Add greenery such as pine branches, eucalyptus, or faux garlands for a natural touch. Incorporate candles in varying heights—pillar, taper, or LED to add a warm glow. Finish with holiday accents like ornaments, pinecones, berries, or miniature figurines.

For a personalized touch, include a string of fairy lights or a handwritten name tag for each guest.

Christmas Houses

If you have a collection of Christmas houses, why not use them to create a festive centerpiece? Place them in a clear glass jar on your dining table. Create a snow globe look by adding fake snow (you can use Epsom salt or sugar for this). We especially love this idea with the gingerbread houses.

Another idea is to line them up down the center of the table and sprinkle in pine cones. Use pillar candle holders to elevate some of the houses for interest.

Use simple items such as gingerbread houses and white candles for a winter wonderland vibe.

Everybody loves those little bottle brush trees and they’re easy to find at the dollar store this time of year. Mix them in with little Christmas houses for a festive display. You could even use a faux fur table runner to mimic snow underneath. This would be a fun idea to try with vintage Putz houses.

Use Fresh Greens

For an elegant look, use fresh greenery down the center of the table. Look through your holiday decor to see what you can add to it. We added fairy lights and ornaments to the greenery. If neutral isn’t for you, try adding colorful ornaments instead.

We also placed little golden bells at each place setting. This could easily transition into a New Year’s Eve tablescape as well.

A simple table runner and mini trees (which are Rosemary plants) are elevated with velvet green ribbon and moss tucked into the base of the plant.

If you are using a round table, have your centerpiece be circular too. For our small round table, we filled a crock with an amaryllis bulb, sprigs of greenery and baby’s breath. We accented this setting with vintage pale pink glasses and ornaments for subtle color. Tie small place cards onto the ornaments for a more formal dinner. This was an easy Christmas centerpiece using mostly natural elements.

Table Settings with Citrus Fruits

We especially love this beautiful centerpiece idea. Start with a glass hurricane vase and a white candle. Wrap a wide ribbon around the middle. Embellish the clear vase with orange slices, greenery, and cinnamon sticks. Then place one or two of the vases on a cake stand for added height. So simple yet so pretty.

Here is another idea using citrus fruits that will elevate your Christmas feast. Simply fill a vessel with greenery, candles, and fruit. The orange and deep red color scheme here is so elegant.

Another pretty and budget-friendly idea is to reuse glass bottles. Add water and place a sprig of greenery with a few fresh cranberries. The neck of the glass bottle makes for a good candle holder.

This DIY centerpiece is one I put together a few years back that involved floating candles that I made myself. Place fresh cranberries along with floating candles in a bowl full of water for a quick and easy centerpiece. Here, I used a plant stand to elevate my bowl. This is another good idea for round tables.

For long tables, use 3-5 smaller bowls down the center rather than one large bowl in the middle.

Poinsettias also make for a great holiday centerpiece. We like this one paired with glassware filled with red and green seasonal elements.

Christmas Flower Arrangement Ideas

Even though this arrangement was done by a professional wedding florist, I don’t think it would be that hard to recreate. A few big blooms, some berries spilling over the sides and something tall from your yard would mimic this look. I would probably buy fake berry branches (these are beautiful) from the craft store to recreate this. They’d be easier to bend over the sides.

Another gorgeous idea is to use an abundance of white roses with a few red berries mixed in. This is pretty for your coffee table too.

If you prefer a classic floral arrangement for the holidays you can’t go wrong with red poinsettias.

Lastly, wrap your floral arrangement with candy canes for a festive look.

Table Settings With Ornaments

If you have a collection of ornaments, run them right down the center of the table. Simple, elegant, and festive! Use a table runner underneath or faux greenery.

Have a collection of candlesticks? We love the use of these brass candlesticks (see this set of pretty candleholders) that look great mixed with string lights, red jingle bells, and evergreen sprigs.

Fill any clear vase with ornaments for an elegant look. Use ornaments that match your Christmas decorations. Add small string lights for more sparkle. Use two or three down the center of a rectangular table. For a round table, cluster three together at different heights.

Holiday Centerpieces with candles and Lights

We love the glow of this adorable centerpiece idea. Shop your own house and see what you have to pull a similar look together.

Frost empty wine bottles with paint and add lights inside. Instead of candles, try fresh greenery at the top. You could also use mason jars in place of the wine bottles.

Place similar items like these little Christmas trees on the table with a mix of candles for a quick and easy display.

The best part of all of these centerpiece ideas is that they can be enjoyed throughout the Christmas season.

Edible Centerpieces

If we are being practical, sometimes you need the center of the table more for food than for pretty decor. Often, I try to make it pretty while also leaving space for food.

However, you can make a completely edible centerpiece for Christmas. I thought these were all pretty clever!

Make a charcuterie board using a mix of snacking foods in the shape of a Christmas tree.

You can keep it simple with fruits and cheese or go all out and add meats, nuts, and olives as well. This one is almost too pretty to eat.

I hope you love these ideas as much as we do! We found these centerpieces to be affordable, customizable, and perfect for creating a cozy holiday atmosphere!

Creating your own DIY Christmas centerpieces for the table is a great way to infuse your holidays with a personal touch.

Whether you choose natural elements, glittering accents, or sentimental keepsakes, your centerpiece will reflect your family’s unique spirit of the season.
