Christmas Decorating Part 2

Vintage Mantel Christmas Living room decorating ideas 3So my Christmas decorating took forever this year! That is as far as design bloggers go. We need to get our decorations up and photographed early, but it’s hard for me to feel in the Christmas spirit before Thanksgiving has even gotten here. I really like to take my time and enjoy it. That is what I did in my living room.

It’s the first time I’ve had a mantel to decorate without a TV above it, so I was especially excited to decorate in here for Christmas this year. As I mentioned in last week’s Christmas home tour, I picked up this Jingle Bells* sign on sale for only about $22 this year. I removed the mirror that’s usually hanging up here in favor of this for Christmas.

I had 5 of these glass lanterns hanging in my trees outside for several years. This past summer, we had trees removed and all but two of these were broken. I decided to bring them inside to use on the mantel (you can find similar here). I added a clipping from my Christmas garland inside of each.

The star glimmer string is something else new this year.

On the other side of the room, I stayed with my keeping it simple theme this year. I added greenery to my wooden caddy and filled a basket with ornaments.

I made the most of the garland I got from Lynch Creek Farm this year and used it all over the house. I added some to this pitcher with a few sprig of berries, pine cones (that I hot glued onto little wooden dowels) and two antler picks I found on clearance at Michaels.

The little white fur tree is also from Michaels, it goes perfectly with the wreath on my front door and my deer pillows.

These rustic candleholders are my favorite find this year,  they add a bit of nostalgia to my Christmas decorating. My grandmother told me when she was a little girl, they actually put real candles on their Christmas tree!

Here’s a closer look at my Christmas mantel. I love how it all came together, you can see how I made the berry wreaths here.
