Amazing Thrift Store Upcycles to Try Right Now
If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you know I’m big on cheap decorating ideas. I love flea market and thrift store upcycles not only because you can decorate on a budget but also because you can find unique pieces. With a little vision, you can turn almost anything into home decor.
I’ve rounded up some inspiration today from some of my blogging friends. It’s fun to see other people’s repurposing ideas, just like on Flea Market Flip. All of these are easy upcycle projects! You may even have some of the items used in these projects already around the house.
Repurposed Furniture Ideas
My friend Kati was not deterred by the condition of this old chest she found at a thrift store. See her upcycled chest to a coffee table , it’s such a good before and after!
I see vintage suitcases at flea markets often. They always catch my eye but I never really had any ideas for them. I was totally impressed when I saw this suitcase table upcycle. So clever!
I cannot believe these cane barstools were found at a thrift store for only $12 each! What a lucky find! They did need some fixing up, see how they did this bar stool makeover!
A few years back, I found an old wooden wheel at a flea market. We took it home and turned it into a small side table diy upcycle ! I ended up selling it a little later on Facebook Marketplace for a profit.
You’ve probably seen a few ways on how to repurpose an old dresser, I know I have. But I have never seen one like this. So creative and you will NOT believe what it looked like before!
Easy Thrift Store Upcycles for Your Garden
When decorating with flea market finds inside I try not to go overboard so my house doesn’t look like an antique store. However, when it comes to my garden, anything goes. I will cram in every vintage piece I can find out there! Flowers and nature add the perfect balance to vintage pieces!
This black basket planter didn’t start out looking this chic. See how it was transformed into this pretty pot.
At one flea market I went to last year, there was a couple who made and sold these cute bird feeders. Shockingly, this diy bird feeder isn’t hard to make! If you have any sets of china that may be missing pieces, this would be a great way to make use of the rest.
Thrift Store Upcycles – Lighting
The vintage chandelier shown below was a bright gaudy gold before! I love how this old chandelier makeover turned out, it looks like a designer chandelier now.
Finally a use for those outdated ceiling fan light covers! Turn them into DIY solar garden lights.

Here’s an idea I would never have thought of! Use lamp shade frames as plant stands.
Vintage pottery can be expensive! Check out this brilliant idea that takes everyday glassware and gives it the look of DIY vintage pottery. You can find vases at the dollar store to replicate this one.
When it comes to storage space, going vertical is a great way to get more. Check out how to make a coat hanger using old shutters.
Candlesticks are such a versatile decorating accessory. Give old ones a new look with a candlestick makeover.
I also love finding vintage rolling pins at flea markets. Here’s an idea for upcycling those into a personalized rolling pin. Super cute!
Lastly, you can never have too many white pitchers. I use these everywhere in my house. Keep this white pitcher upcycle in mind the next time you come across an ugly pitcher when out thrifting! You could also take the vintage pottery idea to one of these.
