Kitchen fun when it’s too hot in the sun!
If you’re looking for some kitchen fun when it’s just too hot to go outside, try making your own ice cream! Homemade ice cream truly does not compare to store bought, it’s so much better.
The Cuisinart ice cream maker from Walmart Home is totally affordable and doesn’t take up a ton of space. I always hesitate to buy any kitchen items or gadgets due to the lack of storage space. My kids joke with me because I tell them they better not bring home one more mug or reusable water bottle!
This one earns its keep!
There are only four parts to the whole machine and they all fit together for storage as shown in the above photo.
Not only the ice cream amazing, but you really don’t need to buy a ton of ingredients. You likely have most everything you need to make simple vanilla or chocolate. The only ingredient I had to buy was heavy cream.
So grab the family and get ready for some kitchen fun! You simply add your ingredients into the mixing bowl and the machine does the work. It takes about 10-15 minutes to turn it into ice cream.
It comes out as a soft-serve style. If you prefer your ice cream firmer, like I do, just put it into the freezer for a while.
I also picked up these adorable glass pedestal ice cream bowls. They’re also from Walmart Home and I was so happy to see the price on them! I’ve looked into buying cute pedestal bowls last year and they were shockingly expensive elsewhere.
Make more kitchen fun by putting out a selection of ice cream toppings. Kids can totally help in making the ice cream as well, definitely an easy project for the whole family.
To store the ice cream, I found these handy freezer safe containers also from Walmart Home. They’re dishwasher safe, very convenient.
The Cuisinart comes with a book containing several ice cream recipes as well as sorbet and gelato recipes. I also found these homemade ice cream recipes online.
Honestly, the ice cream is so good I’ll be leaving the machine on the counter and within reach for the summer!
