Floating Shelves – 10 Ways to Use Them
Happy Monday Friends! I hope your Fourth of July weekend was good! I can’t believe how fast it went by. One of the many things we’ve been up to around here in between fireworks and family picnics is giving our little half bath an update. So far we have changed out the builder grade mirror, lighting and faucet. We also added plank board to the wall, if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a sneak peek at that this weekend. I was considering adding some floating shelves above the toilet for a little extra storage space. I found so many great examples of DIY floating shelves that I had to share them here today!
I love these rustic style floating shelves, with nail heads from Shanty 2 Chic. She even includes printable plans in her post if you are looking to build your own.
For my small bathroom, I was thinking of my shelves going from wall to wall, like the Wood Grain Cottage did with hers, only on a much smaller scale.
I also love the idea of hanging floating shelves from the wall in a creative way like the next two photos. (Would they still count as floating shelves?) The first image is from Etsy and the second is via Apartment Therapy.
Not only do I love these simple rustic shelves, I love this whole before and after from the BowerPower blog. They took a boring little corner and turned it into this!
If you have a corner in need of some interest, you can add floating shelves to it, like these via House Beautiful.
How genius is this idea? Floating shelves with hidden drawers for storage from Not Just a Housewife via DIY Showoff!
Need some room for your plant addiction? Use floating shelves like Vintage Revivals.
I also really love these clean and simple kitchen shelves from Lemon Thistle.
These rustic shelves via Belle Maison are placed perfectly random.
After all of my floating shelf research, it turns out I won’t be using them in my bathroom. Once we added the plank board (which I’ll be sharing soon) I changed my mind. I’m going to have to find somewhere else in the house to add some floating shelves now!
Thanks so much for including my shelves! What an awesome roundup 🙂
Thanks Colleen, your shelves came out amazing!
I love all of your examples! I had made some of my own for our living room, before we had out built-in installed. They were life savers! Now I’m thinking of incorporating some into a new design I’m dreaming up for our dining room!
I love the turn buckle hardware but where can I find the metal plate with hook that goes on the wall
