DISCOVER STYLISH BATHROOM VANITY REMODEL IDEAS TO INSPIRE YOUR NEXT UPGRADE!
After I’ve spent countless hours looking at walk-in shower tiles, I have moved on to sourcing bathroom vanities.
Initially, our architect put in a double vanity for our master bathroom. For some reason, my husband didn’t like that idea nor did he see the need for two sinks. I didn’t mind either way, but the thought of only having to clean one sink appealed to me.
Another positive for a single vanity is that it offers extra counter space. For those reasons, we changed it to a single vanity.
As the bathroom is starting to take shape, I am glad we went that route because the vanity area is around 52″, so we are going with a 48″ vanity.
My original plan for our bathroom was to use an antique piece of furniture for the bathroom vanity. I bought an old wooden antique buffet that would work perfectly. However, the more I thought about it, the more I worried about maintaining the wood around water. A natural stone top will be much easier to maintain.
This way, it also makes it easier to install the faucet fixtures and we won’t need to adjust anything for plumbing and the sink. A new vanity also gives us more storage options.
So, rather than using an antique I decided to look for a new vanity that looks vintage. I was surprised at how many options there are! Today, I’m sharing some I’ve looked at and some I’m considering for our bathroom.
Many of these come in bigger sizes for larger bathrooms as well as smaller for for smaller bathrooms. So if you see one you like, odds are good you can find it in the right size.
Wood Bathroom Vanities
The majority of vanities I’m looking at are wood, to better get the vintage look. There’s no shortage of wood tones, I found a variety of finishes and styles to pick from. Even if you love modern decor, you can find a wood vanity to get the look.
This first vanity is made up of solid and composite wood with a marble top and it’s in my top two favorites right now. It comes in other colors such as white, blue, and green.

This is one design board I made using that vanity. I have the shower tile mostly narrowed down, but I haven’t decided on flooring for the bathroom yet. I don’t like tile floors, too cold and slippery so I need to decide on that first.

We will have a freestanding tub in this bathroom with a separate walk-in shower.
My second favorite wood-look vanity is this one. The color is a weather, distressed wood that I like. It also comes in white.

This wasn’t a top contender until I tried it on a design board. Seeing it this way gave it more visual appeal. Here is what that looked like. I used white vinyl plank flooring in this design board. Also something I wasn’t planning on doing but I like it with the wood.

The mirror I used in that design board is one I found online…for $12,000! Crazy. I won’t be using that but I’m hesitant if that’s what makes this vanity stand out here. I’m sure I could find similar bathroom mirrors but it might be hard to get the same effect.
Small Bathroom Vanity remodel ideas
The next vanity is made from reclaimed pine. It’s too small for our bathroom but I wanted to include it because it’s so beautiful. It looks like a piece of furniture. If you have a smaller bathroom, this would be beautiful to add warmth and charm.

I like this as an alternative to a pedestal sink. Though beautiful, the more storage in a small space, the better. Even a tiny powder room needs storage space!
Other small bathroom options would be a floating vanity or wall-mounted vanities. Both are decent options, but I’d rather have a small vanity with storage.
White Bathroom Vanities
White is always a safe choice for a permanent fixture. You can change the look of the bathroom decor around it when trends change. For that reason, I wanted to include white vanities although I don’t plan on going that route myself.
This vanity is my top pick in white. I love the detailing that adds character. It does have a Carrara marble gray top, which is beautiful. It’s a great option all around.

And here’s how that might look in my bathroom. I have many mood boards in various stages of completion. (Learn how to make mood boards in Photoshop here).

I began adding bead board to my designs because I plan to have that in our bathroom.
For the next vanity, I’m including it because it’s interesting, far from boring. However, I feel the ornate style is not right for my personal style.

A white vanity is a great no-fail option for bathroom designs of all styles.
Colorful Vanities
If you like color, there’s a host of options in a wide variety of colors to choose from. Bathrooms are fun spaces to mix things up and go less safe! You could also use a colorful vanity as the base of your color scheme for a bathroom remodel or refresh.
The first one that caught my eye was this vanity in blue. I love that shade and feel it’s a color you can live with. I also like the cut of the legs on the bottom, it looks more like a piece of furniture. Extra points for the storage space here too.

If I were to choose that one, I would add new hardware instead of the black. A brass or silver would stand out better on the cabinet pulls. I did try that one in a mood board but this look wasn’t for me. However, the tile shown with the blue gave me another idea which I’ll share as renovations progress.

If blue isn’t your favorite, there were plenty of green options in various shades. This vanity in sage green is a pretty shade.

Lastly, this yellow vanity caught my eye. I’m not a fan of yellow in any way, but if done right, this could be gorgeous. The description calls it antique beige, so it could look yellow on the computer screen but not in reality.

This could be a great choice for you if you like bright colors and aren’t afraid to go for it!
choosing the right vanity style
Another thing I wanted to mention here is the vanity on the bottom right, above. That was another favorite of mine for its vintage look, but I couldn’t get past the color of the vanity top. It’s an almond color that I’m not fond of.
Choosing the right vanity style can be difficult especially because they are the focal point of the entire space.
The good news is there seems to be an option for every situation. Whether you like clean lines, modern vanities, or a pop of color there’s an option for you. I was surprised and delighted to see so many new vanities that look like a vintage dresser.
If you already have a decent vanity, and you’re not doing a full renovation, you can paint it for an easy DIY bathroom vanity makeover. In a few hours, you’ll have a whole new look for just the cost of paint!
I’ve done that several times over the years in our current house and it makes a huge difference!
Here’s a summary of all the vanities I featured here. You can click on any image to go to the website for more information. I hope you found bathroom vanity remodel ideas to inspire you today!
Bathroom Vanity Backsplash

Another feature I’d love to have on our bathroom vanities is a stone backsplash. I haven’t dug too deep on those yet but from what research I’ve done, those will have to be made custom. I did find a premade vanity backsplash you can buy, but it is only available in 35″ width.
If I’m able to get that feature (haven’t run that idea by my husband yet) I’d prefer it with curves. There were a few more online but only in the short, rectangular size and I don’t love that option.
Then I found this Etsy listing with custom backsplash options, but it looks like that only goes up to 40″ wide.
I also found this blog post on how to get that bathroom backsplash on a budget, so I’ll be looking into that idea.
I’m still researching this, so I’ll let you know what more I find in future bathroom posts.
Lastly, here’s one more mood board I did early on when I thought we would have a double vanity. That one is from the Home Decorator’s collection. (I photoshopped the backsplash onto that vanity).
