Decorating With Warm and Cool Colors

As summer sadly comes to an end and fall creeps in I thought this would be a good time to talk about decorating with warm and cool colors. As you’re transitioning your home from one season to the next, you might find you have a mix of both.

I have a friend with an interior design business (see her amazing converted barn project here if you missed it) and sometimes she recruits me to help with certain projects. Recently, she called me in to help pick art and accessories for a new client. After meeting with her, I realized that although her house is currently decorated in cool tones, which she loves, she wanted to mix in warm tones which were abundant in her last home.

Mixing the two isn’t as intimidating as it might seem. Here are some pretty examples I found.

That second image above is from the Property Brothers episode when the brothers each made over identical houses in New Orleans, it was my favorite. Does anyone else remember that episode?

If you’re unsure which colors are considered warm and which are considered cool, read this post.
