We Tried Empire Today’s In-Home Flooring Consultation—Here’s What Happened

WE SCHEDULED AN IN-HOME FLOORING CONSULTATION WITH EMPIRE TODAY AND WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE CONVENIENCE OF IT ALL – HERE’S WHY.

While our home renovation is finally done (except for a few details), one part of the house we didn’t touch is the basement. That was not slated in our reno budget. But as the move-in date was quickly approaching, I realized that we needed to update some things in that area.

Our plan was to work on the basement ourselves after we moved in, but with my husband’s health issues, installing flooring ourselves is not something we want to do at this time. Nor do we have time to do it.

Ideally, I would’ve liked to have the floors done before we move anything into the basement. Now that we are in the house, I want this done quickly – I’m so over long, drawn-out construction. When I thought about this, Empire Today® came to mind.

What is empire today’s in home consultation?

If you aren’t familiar with Empire Today®, they are a flooring company that brings the floors to you. The in-home consult is free of charge, and they bring all the flooring samples right to your home

One thing they are known for is their quick turnaround time, which is what made me think of them specifically for this job. Every Empire® service area (they currently operate in over 70 major metropolitan areas) has access to the same product selection, which helps facilitate quick turnaround times.

Scheduling the appointment

Scheduling the appointment was simple; I scheduled via their website. I was able to get an appointment within the week. Once scheduled, they keep you updated with reminders via text message. Very convenient.

The day of the consultation

On the day of our in-home flooring consult, the rep came to the house with plenty of flooring samples, in a variety of styles, colors, and price points. He was professional and thoroughly explained all the options, how it works, and what is included in the pricing.

While he was a thorough sales rep, I did not feel he was pressuring us too much, which I appreciated.

It was nice to see the different samples in our space and compare them side by side.

Additionally, on the front of the sample book, they show each of the samples on a larger scale so you can see the variations in the color and tone. I liked that detail because you never can tell from a small sample how something with look on a large scale.

Pricing and Estimates

Once we made our selections, the sales representative was able to measure the space and give us a quote on the spot. He gave us a complete breakdown of the cost (materials, labor, extras, etc). I felt the quote was pretty in line with what I would expect to pay for flooring and installation.

Additionally, as for pricing, they offer lots of different options that can bring the price up or down. For example, baseboards, padding under carpets, insurance protection, etc.

For that reason, I feel that you can really work with them to get flooring in whatever budget you have in mind. They also offer different financing options.

The rep said once we are ready to commit, we could have the floors installed within the week. The installers will also take care of the removal and disposal of any old flooring.

Is Empire Today® worth it? In short, yes.

After months of renovations and countless trips to stores for finishes and materials, having someone come to us was a refreshing change.

The convenience factor can’t be beat, the prices were fair, and they had plenty of flooring options to choose from. I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised!

If you’re interested in trying it for yourself, you can schedule an in-home consult here.

I am not sharing any pictures of the basement just yet, but once it’s cleaned up with new flooring, I will. The construction crews involved in our remodel aren’t gentle with things; my husband even joked it looks like “the running of the bulls” down there.
