My Simple Fall and Halloween Decor
SIMPLE FALL AND HALLOWEEN DECOR IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR HOME FEEL COZY WITHOUT GOING OVERBOARD.

This year, I leaned into simple fall and Halloween decor. Not because I prefer minimalism, but due to a lack of time. Usually, in the fall, I prefer a big abundance of decor because there are so many natural elements to work with.
So while I really didn’t have the time to go all out, I couldn’t let my favorite season slip by without some decorations! In doing so, I discovered that less can be just as beautiful!
Cozy Fall Decorating Ideas
The sunroom in our new home is the one room that got the most attention with fall and Halloween decor.

I used my favorite faux fall leaves in a vintage basket for cozy fall decor. The pumpkins you see are also vintage, made of papier-mache. Vintage Halloween papier-mache is a favorite of mine, but they’re not too easy to find! One day, I’d love to try making my own.

In the plant corner of our sunroom, I added a few more simple fall touches. The blue bucket is an old minnow bucket I found at an antique store. As soon as I saw it, I imagined it with orange mums. I’ve been waiting months to get to put that together!

I propped a cute wicker broom up against the wall to incorporate a little more simple Halloween decor.
We recently hung this large, old, primitive shelf over the couch in the sunroom. A few seasonal touches there include the handmade Halloween bunting, dried flowers, and a few brooms hanging from the pegs.

Simple Fall Floral Arrangements
On our dining table, I made a simple fall centerpiece using a vintage tin filled with fresh sunflowers from a local farm stand. The yellow tin really makes this arrangement stand out. So simple but so beautiful!

I’m not ready to share our living room just yet, because the furniture is not as coordinated as I hoped. It’s going to take me time to find the right pieces for this house, but in the meantime, I did add a large old ice cream bucket full of dried mums.

You can also see that I have my DIY ghosts on the console table next to the hydrangeas. We light those up in the evenings, and it feels super cozy.
I also took one sprig of my favorite fake fall leaves and added that to another tin in the kitchen. It was a simple way to bring a little fall touch into the kitchen as well.

fall candle decor
Recently, I found these taper candles in assorted colors that reminded me of fall. That gave me the idea to use them with similar colored ribbon in vintage brass candlestick holders.

This is such a simple idea, but I love how it turned out. When you’re short on time (or money), candles and flowers go a long way in decorating!
Minimalist Pumpkin Porch Decor

When decorating, using three of anything always looks aesthetically pleasing. The little trio of pumpkins next to the single mum plant on our back porch is really my favorite little moment.
This is proof that you don’t need a truckload of hay bales and plastic spiders to make your home feel festive. Not that there’s anything wrong with that – I love abundance too! But there are plenty of easy fall home decorating ideas that can make your home feel inviting without the fuss.
Keeping It Simple: Fall Decorating Tips
When life gets busy, it can be refreshing to take the pressure of seasonal decorating off the list. However, since I enjoy it so much, I wanted to do something. Keeping my fall and Halloween decor simple this year has felt good.
Here are six quick tips for festive yet simple fall and Halloween decor.
- Use seasonal flowers – real or dried
- Use natural elements such as pumpkins, acorns, leaves, gourds, and branches
- Make a simple centerpiece with faux leaves or seasonal candles
- Add a cozy throw in a warm color to your sofa
- Throw a seasonal tablecloth or runner on your dining table
- Use candles or battery-operated decorations for a cozy ambiance
Although I kept it simple this year, our house still feels festive and cozy without the clutter. Sometimes, a few well-placed pumpkins, a dried floral arrangement, and a flickering candle are all it takes to set the mood. No haunted hayride in the living room required!
And I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m already thinking about Christmas decorations! 😉
