Using oven cleaner to strip furniture has been popular with DIY'ers. I wanted to give it a try so I experimented on a table I found for under $5.00.
First, I sprayed Easy Off oven cleaner all over the table and let is sit for about 20 minutes.
Next, I mixed dish detergent with water and scrubbed the whole table down with that.
From what I've read, the only way to clean it after that is to spray it down with a garden hose so that is what I did.
I let it dry overnight and this is how it looked in the morning. Not bad, but it needed to be done again.
After another round the table actually looked worse, not better. It started to look almost dehydrated.
Here is a close up of the finished table. Not good! I thought maybe it was the wood so I tried this method two more times on other furniture and got similar results.
