DIY Live MOSS

Topiary

To create this topiary you will first need live moss.  I found a seller online who had fresh sheet moss.  It arrived in perfectly healthy condition.

The first step is to lay the moss out on a waterproof surface and mist it well with a spray bottle of water.  You want the moss to be damp, not soaked.

Next, form the moss into a ball.  You want to compress it firmly.  The dampness will help it all hold together until you can secure it.  The amount you need depends on how big you want your topiary.

Once you've formed a ball, use green floral wire to secure it.  Wrap it around the moss ball several times.  I secured the end by sticking it right into the moss.

I then attached the ball to a stick and placed it into my planter.  For a finishing touch, I used more of the moss at the base of the topiary.

To preserve your new moss topiary's, keep them misted with a spray bottle of water.  Do not let them dry out.  See all the details via the link below!
