Craving some garden therapy? This wreath is a great way to get some! Start with a sphagnum wreath form. These come preassembled, making this an easy DIY.
Prepare the wreath form by soaking it in water. This gets a little messy so it's best to put it in a bucket. Soak for about 10 minutes, then remove from water and place on a waterproof surface.
Gently create an opening in the moss by using a blunt object or your fingers. Press the moss off to the side to make room for your plants.
Use small plants of your choosing, such as succulents. We are partial to ferns so we picked up 5 small fern plants in assorted varieties for interest.
Here is how ours looked after getting the first fern planted. Plant one at a time so you'll know how much spacing to leave in between.
Continue planting your live plants around the wreath until it's filled in. You can also use sheet moss to fill in between, if desired.
You wreath will need to sit flat for a few weeks to allow the roots of the plants to take hold. We placed ours on a plastic garden tray for easy watering.
