Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Place softened butter into a bowl or electric mixer and mix for 1 minute.
  3. Add dry ingredients to the butter slowly until combined with the butter.
  4. Add in the milk, oil, vanilla extract and eggs. Mix until well blended.
  5. Pour into 2 greased round cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Notes

For cupcakes, bake for 15 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
For rectangular baking pans bake approximately 30-35 minutes.
