Diy pLEATED LAMP SHADE

Fabric pleated lamp shades have been popping up on designer's accounts everywhere lately, but if you've shopped for one you may have noticed how expensive they are!  Here is an easy way to make one yourself!

First, measure and cut a length of fabric to the height of the shade you are using.

Next, cut that length of fabric into 3" strips.  If you are using a large lamp shade you can make them a little bigger..

Now fold your 3" strips into thirds, folding each end in towards the back side of the fabric.  Iron each of these strips.

Begin attaching the fabric strips to your lamp shade using fabric glue.  Leave the left half of the first strip only unglued, as the last strip will tuck under it.

Continue attaching the fabric strips around the shade.  Overlap each strip over the next by about half.

When done, you will attach another (longer) strip of your fabric to the top and bottom to form banding.  I used a jute ribbon I had rather than the same fabric.

Here is the finished lamp. This entire project cost me less than $20!
