Roman Clay Fireplace DIY
The Honeycomb Home
Roman Clay is a treatment that will give you the look of real stone. This is an easy do-it-yourself project.
This beautiful mantel was a Facebook marketplace find. We installed it in our living room as a focal point.
The Roman Clay was applied to the wood surround. We taped off the edges first to protect the mantel.
Begin the application in one corner and work your way out from there.
Here's a closer look at that. It's applied much like spackle. You want it thicker in some areas than others.
Two coats are recommended by the manufacturer. We only did one because we liked the color & the coverage after the first application.
Here's how it looks after. You would never know this isn't real stone!
