Kitchen Home Tours

gray and white kitchen ideas

Is there anything more fun than going on a home tour? Last week I mentioned I’m participating in a series called Room by Room. Each week over the summer some of my blogging friends and I will be sharing different rooms in our homes. Last week it was entry ways. I shared my front porch because my tiny entry is attached to my living room which is currently under some minor renovations. This week it’s time to show the kitchen.

I lived with an ugly kitchen for so long, I still have to pinch myself that it’s finally done. I had planned this kitchen makeover in my mind for years, so when it finally started happening, I didn’t have to agonize over any decisions, I knew just what I wanted. White cabinets were first on the list. I painted the old, existing cabinets and added a row of new cabinets with glass fronts above those.

I dressed up the cabinets with DIY book page wreaths. The mason jar canisters were also a DIY project. We added quartz countertops in gray and a subway tile backsplash.

We completely reconfigured the area with the refrigerator, taking out the old pantry and installing a new, slide out pantry which allowed for a bigger refrigerator. Our contractor custom-built the pantry as well as the wine racks above the fridge. We added a shiplap feature wall later on (you can see how to install shiplap here). Initially, I had wanted to add the planks to the ceiling but we decided to do the wall instead.

We also added cabinet lighting in the upper cabinets as well as under the cabinets. That was a relatively easy DIY with big impact.
