Welcome to week three of our Room by Room Summer Series! This weeks featured room is the living room. My main living room is under minor construction right now so I’m sharing my family room, which used to be our one car garage. We converted it to a family room several years ago to give us some much-needed extra living space.
I kept this room neutral intentionally so I could switch things up for the seasons. I especially love changing the mantel. The summer mantel shown below is from last year, I haven’t gotten around to decorating that yet this year.
This photo was taken last fall, as you can see by the mantel decor. The wall decor over the sofa is actually just framed burlap sacks. The coffee table is one of my favorite things in the house. That exact table is no longer available, but they do have a very similar one here.
Several months ago I moved the sofa over to the opposite wall. The branch wall hanging was a DIY project. I was really concerned about buying this light colored sofa, but it’s been years and I have not regretted it yet. This sofa holds up well and the slipcover comes off for machine washing.
This little plant looked so cute here but I had to move him to a sunnier location.
Opposite the TV wall, I have this round table that I refinished with two ladder back chairs. It’s a multi-functional space. We use this table as an extra seating area when we entertain and we also use it as our office space.
This sideboard is to the left of the table and chairs. It holds extra kitchen items.
The two wing back chairs are also a purchase I’ve been extremely happy with. Very comfortable (love the high back) and so pretty!
I hope you enjoyed my family room tour, stop by my friend’s homes to see what they have going on in their living rooms! Thanks to Amy from My Life from Home for hosting!
